How to mend the gap between the representation and the real, the photograph and its subject, the self and the other, the mother and her child.<br/><br/>Iman Mersal is an Egyptian poet and assistant professor of Arabic literature and Middle Eastern studies at the University of Alberta, Canada. Her books include Alternative Geography (2006) and Until I Give Up the Idea of Homes (2013).
