520 _a“Pinacoteca Migrante / Migrant Art Gallery” is an institution created by the Peruvian-Spanish artist Sandra Gamarra Heshiki and hosted by the Spanish Pavilion at the 60th Biennale di Venezia, 2024. The project analyzes the arts' systemic structures through pictorial appropriations based on the artist's research on heritage paintings and objects in public collections and museums, from the Empire to the Enlightenment in Spain. Gamarra's revision shows the absence of decolonial narratives, exposing the bias with which colonizers and the oppressed have been represented in museums. Text: Esther Gabara, Sandra Gamarra Heshiki, Yeison García López, Yayo Herrero, Agustín Pérez Rubio, Neferti X. Tadiar, Françoise Vergès, Gabriela Wiener.
