520 | _aTitle in French: Les lettres Libanaises by Sami Kleib and Faisal Jalloul This is the sixth book in our series of books that we started with "Paris seen by the Arabs", followed by "Letters from Damascene" and after "Palestine in its second centenary", then "Moroccan Letters" then "Letters from the Gulf". Our hope in this book, as in the previous ones, is to continue building bridges of true knowledge and deep rapprochement between the Arabs first and with the world then, and to try to bury or mitigate the temptation, by connecting history to the present and highlighting the causes of the turmoil of history repeatedly without learning from it, and also by talking (especially in the previous books) about cities, peoples, customs, traditions, civilizations, cultures and problems whose ignorance can be a reason to deepen hatred and strengthen distancing. Our book on Lebanon was delayed for a deliberate reason, because we (Faisal Jalloul and Sami Kleib) are Lebanese, so we did not want to start this series of our books, which will include in its first phase all the Arab countries and then many countries of the world in the second phase, in our homeland, to avoid the narrow chauvinism that has become that of the era of pandemics. It was also delayed because we decided that it coincides with the first centenary of the founding of Greater Lebanon, and the controversy that took place there and that continues to this day. This book differs from the previous ones in that it also includes writers from Lebanon, while it was preferred to avoid the Arab writing about their country, and the reason for this difference, here, we are not talking about cities, traditions and customs, but rather about a Lebanese century that has experienced many tremors that had to be read by experts who lived them, even if they were foreigners, such as the former French ambassador Michel Rambo. We hope that we have been correct in the anatomy of this turbulent century and that we open broader horizons for the future. And if we fail, there is no doubt that there will be someone who will come after us to complete this message. | ||
