This book sheds light on the art scene in the Emirates and documents the center’s journey since its launch in 2008. The book includes interviews with the founder and director of the center, Sheikha Latifa bint Maktoum, and also includes interviews and contributions from a number of artists, such as Annabelle de Gresigny, Beth Derderian, Kevin Jones, and Mark Pilkington. Melissa Gronlund, Mishal Al Gergawi, and Reem Ibrahim. Edited by Melissa Gronlund, the book begins with an introduction by Sheikha Latifa bint Maktoum, and includes articles and photographs chronicling the artistic journey of the centre, and the various artists whose contributions formed part of the development of the centre. The book also addresses the paths of transformation in the art movement in the Emirates, and the development of a number of prestigious artistic institutions in The country, such as the Sharjah Art Foundation, and Gallery 421, in addition to the increase in the number of art galleries, auction houses, art publishing sectors, and institutions specialized in the fields of art and design such as Alserkal Avenue and the Dubai Design District.
