'During the summer of 2016, One of My Kind (OOMK) undertook a four-week research and development trip to Malaysia to investigate artists' publishing practices. Our aims were to engage with a spectrum of contemporary artists and independent publishers in Malaysia, particularly in Kuala Lumpur (KL) and Penang, to learn more about the opportunities and challenges facing their practices today. As self-publishers of a biannual zine, OOMK Zine, and co-curators of London zine fair, DIY Cultures, we were keen to share perspectives and broaden our understanding of emerging self-publishing scenes in order to place our own practice within an international context.’-excerpted from the zine.
