From 1941 to 1944, Polish-Jewish photographer Henryk Ross clandestinely documented everyday life inside the Łódź Ghetto under Nazi rule—even as he officially worked for the ghetto’s propaganda office. He buried thousands of negatives in 1944 to preserve this record; after the war, many were recovered. Memory Unearthed brings together his images, original prints, archival documents, and commentary to present a deeply human, intimate portrait of life and survival under extreme oppression.
