No.31 of Kwadrant Art series of art books. vanspijk.com. Conceptual Landscape Photography - on the works of Peter Schlör "Weidegang" (1999) is a key work in Peter Schlör's serial photography. The initially romantic view of a flock of sheep grazing on the Neckarwiese in Mannheim leads to a sequence of seven photographs with precisely defined observation parameters. The law of the series is determined here by the constant distance to the flock, to the river, which, with the trees visible on the opposite bank, forms the horizon at the same height. The images follow the flock from tree to tree. In the foreground and in the center, these form one variable; the other is the flock, which fills the middle ground to the left of the tree in similar yet changing structures. The composition of the work is determined vertically by the spatial contrast between the dark foreground and the depth of the view, and horizontally by the movement along the continuous horizon in relation to the rhythm of the different trees and the constantly changing arrangement of the herd.
