In the works included in the "Mesopotamian Dramaturgies" exhibition held at Arter from September 15 to November 16, 2011, Kutluğ Ataman explored the construction of individual and social identities and how identity is, in fact, something that is repeatedly constructed. Starting from his own geography, he pointed out that geography and history are also merely fictions. A book published as part of the exhibition includes an introduction by Emre Baykal, an article by independent curator Cristiana Perella, and images from the works. The book is accompanied by a DVD documentary on Kutluğ Ataman. This 222-minute documentary, directed by Metin Çavuş, follows the artist's 15-year artistic production through excerpts from his works, the artist's own words, and comments from art historians and curators.
