يفرِّق الكتاب بين السينما الفلسطينية وسينما الفلسطينيين، فيتناول هنا سيرة السينما الروائية التي صنعها فلسطينيون، من أول هذه الأفلام إلى لحظة الانتهاء من العمل على الكتاب، وهو ما ينحصر بين حدثَين محوريين في التاريخ الفلسطيني: انتفاضة الحجارة والحرب الإبادية. يقدِّم الكتاب سياقاً وطنياً يسبق تناولَ السيرة، باعتبار السينما انعكاساً للحالة السياسية للفلسطينيين، فانتفاضة الأقصى كذلك فرضت تحولاً في هذه السينما.

وضمن هذه السيرة، بحث الكتاب النقدي في سمة أساسية لهذه السينما، هي محدودية المساحات والشخصيات، محيلاً ذلك إلى سياق القصة الفلسطينية وخضوعها لظرف الاستعمار الاستيطاني، بسياساته وإنشاءاته، وامتداد ذلك إلى الشخصيات واحتماليات التحقيق التي تسعى إليها على طول الفيلم. فالمساحة المحدودة أدت كذلك إلى شخصيات بإمكانات محدودة. هذه الثيمة، تبعاً لما توصل إليه الكتاب، هي العلامة الأساسية لسينما الفلسطينيين، مع بروز أفلام كانت استثناءات تُثبت القاعدة، فكان تمرد الشخصيات على محدودية المساحات، مؤدياً إلى تحررٍ في ذاتها بصفتها شخصيات درامية تتطور مع تقدم القصة.

تناول الكتاب 57 فيلماً روائياً، مبيناً تموقع كل فيلم إزاء فكرة المحدودية وتمثيلاتها في ما سمّاه الجيمات الخمسة (الجندي والجيب والحاجز والسجن والجدار).

للفلسطينيين في تاريخهم المعاصر، منذ النكبة، سيرة تراجيدية تماماً، بمآلات كارثية استحضرت معها بطولات لا تخلو التراجيديات منها. يمكن تتبع هذه السيرة بمراحلها في صور عديدة لهذا الشعب، وبينها السينما. فكما يقدم الكتاب سيرة نقدية لهذه السينما ضمن السياق التاريخي للقضية الفلسطينية، يحاول، كذلك، تقديم سيرة لهذه القضية من خلال أفلامها. This narrative spans two pivotal events in Palestinian history: the Intifada and the genocidal war. The book presents a national context that precedes the biography, considering cinema as a reflection of the political situation of Palestinians. The Al-Aqsa Intifada also imposed a transformation on this cinema.

Within this biography, the critical book explores a fundamental characteristic of this cinema: the limited spaces and characters. It refers this to the context of the Palestinian story and its subjection to the conditions of settler colonialism, with its policies and constructions, and its extension to the characters and the possibilities of realization they seek throughout the film. The limited space also led to characters with limited potential. This theme, according to the book's findings, is the fundamental hallmark of Palestinian cinema, with films emerging as exceptions that prove the rule. The characters' rebellion against the limited spaces led to their own liberation as dramatic characters who develop as the story progresses.

The book covers 57 feature films, showing each film's positioning in relation to the idea of ​​limitation and its representations in what he called the five Gs (soldier, pocket, barrier, prison, and wall).

The contemporary history of Palestinians, since the Nakba, has been a completely tragic one, with catastrophic outcomes that have evoked heroic acts that are not without tragedy. This history can be traced through its various stages in numerous forms of this people, including cinema. Just as the book presents a critical biography of this cinema within the historical context of the Palestinian cause, it also attempts to present a biography of this cause through its films. The author is a film critic and novelist.
