This publication accompanies British-Pakistani artist Rasheed Araeen's solo exhibition at VM Art Gallery, Karachi, from December 2014 to January 2015. Known to be one of the pioneering artists of Minimalism in Britain and advocates of human rights and liberation, Rasheed Araeen has been practising, writing, and publishing in England for more than forty years since he moved to London in 1964. In 2010, he established a studio in Karachi his home town, and make frequent visits and produce art works there since then. This collection of essays and plates traces a personal history of intellectual and political thoughts situated in a wider historical context of the status of arts in society, as well as the artistic significance of his 'homecoming' art practice. Includes artist's and contributors' biographies. Contributors: Amra Ali, Aasim Akhtar, Nafisa Rizvi, Iftikhar Dadi.
