The focus is on the paraphernalia of the Ministry for State Security of East Germany, STASI, focusing on its buildings, places and files, the main secret police and intelligance organisation of the GDR which was operative between 1950, the year it was created and 1989, the year it disappeared after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
