Summary: The Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF), School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) at the Beaconhouse National University (BNU), and the Centre for Culture and Development (CKU), held their sixth artSPEAK in the Stories We Tell | Aao Sunayein Kahani series. “Azaadi” This artSPEAK was held on Thursday 20th October, 2016 at Chai Kaafee aur Saisat from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The Panel discussion included Ayesha Jatoi, Ayaz Jokhio and Quddus Mirza in conversation with Ambereen Karamat. The objective for this artSPEAK was to initiate a dialogue with artists on text, and the city as a discourse, trying to understand the role of text in art. The aim was to discuss the intersection between visualizing, versus writing about a subject, and where the two meet. How text informs art and the relationship between word and image.
