Book published in conjunction with the special exhibition 'Imaginary Asia' held at Nam June Paik Art Center, South Korea from 9 March to 2 July 2017. Featuring works by 17 artists from various regions of Asia, the book includes a curatorial statement by Jinsuk Suh, an article by Hyun-Suk Seo and an interview by Young-Hee Hwang, with the curators. As well as artwork descriptions, color plate of works, biref artists' biographies and installation views of the exhibition. 'Nam June Paik Art Center's special exhibition “Imaginary Asia” aims to lead the newly emergent trend in contemporary art through a new form of self-embodied history making, in collaboration with artists who subjectively speculate on various historical experiences shared throughout Asia proper such as the lack of modernisation, ideological clashes, and exogenously imposed globalisation. This new form of history-making will map out a range of methodologies for engaging with Asian history in its serious, sensitive, acute, creative, and generative approach.'-excerpted from curatorial statement.
