مر الفن الحديث و العمارة في البلاد العربية بمرحلة طويلة كانا فيها يستمدان أصولهما من تقاليد الفن الأوروبي الذي أنتشر واسعاً في العالم، و كانت الثقافة العربية قد انفتحت نحو الغرب بدافع التقديمية و النهضةز وعندما أنشئت معاهد و كليات الفنون الجميلة و العمارة في العواصم العربية كان المنهج و كانت البرامج المتبعة مستقاة من الأصول.

Modern art and architecture in the Arab countries went through a long period in which they derived their origins from the traditions of European art that spread widely in the world, and Arab culture had opened up to the West out of a desire for progress and renaissance. When institutes and colleges of fine arts and architecture were established in Arab capitals, the curriculum and programs followed were derived from the origins.
