يحتوي الكتاب على مجموعة مقالات، كتبها المؤلف في أزمنة مختلفة، بعضها يعود إلى ما قبل ربع قرن، وبعضها كتبه قبل عام، وقد وزعها المؤلف على أربعة فصول: الأول «بالفصحى»: وتناول فيه تجارب شعراء إماراتيين كتبوا بالفصحى، وهم خلفان بن مصبح، ود. مانع سعيد العتيبة، وحمد بو شهاب، ومحمد خليفة بن حاضر. والفصل الثاني «نبطيون»: وفيه توقف عند مجموعة من أهم الشعراء النبطيين، وهم: الماجدي بن ظاهر، وراشد الخضر، وأحمد بن سليم، وأحمد خليفة السويدي، وفتاة العرب، ومحمد بن سوقات، وأحمد الكندي، وسالم الجمري، وربيّع الشاعر، وخليفة بن مترف، وعلي بن هويشل الخاطري. أما الفصل الثالث فجاء بعنوان «الساخرون» . الكتاب لا يقدّم نصوصًا شعرية فقط، بل يتضمّن حكايات وتجارب ورؤى حول الشعر والشعراء؛ كيف عاشوا، كيف كتبوا، ما أثرهم، وما التأثير الذي أحدثوه في المشهد الثقافي الإماراتي. غايته أن يكون مرآة تعكس التنوع الشعري المحلي: من الفصحى إلى الشعبي، من النبطي إلى النقدي، مع التأكيد على الهوية الإماراتية وتجذّر الشعر في المكان والزمان. |

The book Inspired by Emirati Poetry: Poems, Poets, and Stories by Saeed Hamdan, published in 2015 by the Emirates Writers Union, is a collection of essays and literary reflections spanning many years—some dating back about a quarter of a century.
