Exhibition catalog. Iranian artist Fereydoun Ave uses large quilts as his canvas for collage painting to examine Iranian history and civilization This exhibition showcases new works by Iranian artist Fereydoun Ave in the form of eight large quilts. Each of the quilts are made up of fabrics and materials sourced from Tehran’s bazaars, which Ave have collected over the span of decades, resulting in beautiful collage-paintings. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and pop collages and marrying it with Eastern traditions, Ave’s collage quilts are windows into Iranian history, civilization, and forgotten tales. For this series, Ave has based his new works around Persian culture, exploring the boundary between public and private life.
