A set of serigraphs, drawings and paintings where everything is black and white and constitutes a reflective mirror of the four-handed practice of the artist duos Atelier McClane. Atelier McClane was born in 2013 from the meeting between the worlds and the design of Julia Crinon and Hugo Marchal. The drawing with four hands is therefore, from their beginning, characteristic of the identity of the collective. Since then, the McClanes have explored, always together, other mediums such as screen printing, self-publishing, installation, the creation of posters, etc. Through them, it is also the discovery of other distribution systems, of alternative scenes that have opened up new paths for the collective, both plastic and thematic. The recent images proposed by the collective appear like the reflections of mirrors held up to the contemporary world. Work, the place of the individual in an extremely normalized society or even systems of domination are all notions through which the McClanes take a stand – without the tone ever being peremptory, the symbolic images always offering several reading grades. This is reflected, in their works, by a radical use of black and white, by the precision of the line of the drawing that comes to counterbalance the gestures of the painting or by the association of various referents by the collage.
