The history of the greatest anticolonial revolt in inter-war Arab East in 1925, that mobilized peasants, workers and army veterans ratherthan urban elites and nationalist intellectuals. Thought it failed to liberate Syria from the French colonialists, it provided a model of popular nationalism and resistance that remains potent to this day, and has been practically emulated in every subsequent Arab uprising against foreign intervention.
